Andrew Coyne’s prescription for "blocking" the Block is superb –in particular; his suggestion of eliminating public support of party financing. This funding is manna for the Block. I wonder how many Quebeckers would pony up if they had to finance their own separatist agitators. Unfortunately, there are other piggies in the same trough, and it is unlikely they could be weaned of this free lunch anymore than they would agree to have their expense accounts reviewed by the Auditor General.

We might have better luck with his other two suggestions: having the televised election debates bilingual and concurrent; and reform of our electoral system to a more proportional representation. Why, it will likely be right up there with Senate reform.
